Legal ownership of meteorites
A meteorite is a non-terrestrial item from the unknown. Meteorites are circulating in the universe before landing on Earth. Because it is not from Earth, in the application of the General principles of law, a meteorite is the property of anyone. A meteorite is a “res nullius”, i.e. a thing without a master.
